People of different MBTI personalities like to get drunk for a number of reasons. Some of the reasons are:

  • A prior experience of drinking alcohol, which reinforces to drink again
  • People do it for fun. Drinking alcohol makes them feel high, happy, spiriting and relaxed
  • Stress and painful time in life is another reason when people tend to drink alcohol, sometimes more than usual
  • Behavioral expectation is another reason. The driving force behind it can be social norms, peer pressure and simply for a company
  • Exposure to an environment full of alcohol-related cues can increase the craving for consuming alcohol
  • A reason for people to get drunk is because they are simply in places where alcohol is easily accessible and common.
  • On the contrary, getting drunk can be an act of rebellion for someone who wants to look different and defy the rules of his surroundings.

What are MBTI Dimensions & Personality Types?

Personality

The word personality is rooted in a Latin word ‘persona.’ The word persona refers to a theatrical mask work by performers in order to either look a definite way or disguise their characters. Carl Jung highlights the idea of “collective unconscious.” This notion refers to the innate psychological dispositions of all human beings.

Four Key Dichotomies

There are four dichotomies including 2 opposing styles each, which makes a total of 8 different styles. The 8 styles are Extraversion (E), Introversion (I), Sensing (S), iNtuition (N), Judging (J), Perceiving (P), Thinking (T) and Feeling (F). Once it is determined what an individual style for the four dichotomies is, a four letter code is obtained. These four letters are the initials of each of the preferred styles.

  • MBTI Dichotomy – Introversion vs. Extraversion (I/E)

Function: How individuals get their energy?

Description: By spending quiet time alone or with a small group, introverts are energized. They seem to be more thoughtful and reserved. By spending time with individuals and in busy, productive surroundings, extraverts are energized. They seem to be outspoken and more verbal.

  • MBTI Dichotomy – Sensing vs. iNtuition (S/I)

Function: How individuals take in the information?

Description: Sensors rely on their five senses and are interested in data that they can see, hear, and so on directly. They prefer to be hands-on students and are frequently characterized as “practical.” A more abstract level of thought focuses on iNtuitive; they are creative and more interested in ideas, patterns, and explanations.

  • MBTI Dichotomy- Judging vs. Perceiving (J/P)

Function: How individuals make decisions?

Description: Judgers enjoy structure and order; they like organized stuff, and they hate last-minute revisions. Flexibility and spontaneity are valued by perceivers; they want to leave open things so they can change their minds.

  • MBTI Dichotomy –Thinking vs. Feeling (T/F)

Function: How individuals organize their world?

Description: Thinkers, in their heads, prefer to make decisions; they are interested in making the most rational, fair option. Feelers prefer to make choices in their hearts; they are interested in how people will be influenced by a decision, and whether it suits their beliefs.

How MBTI personalities typically behave when drunk?

ISTJ – Introverted Sensing Thinking Judging

If it is in small quantities, ISTJs typically do not like drinking all that much. They can discover that it loosens them up a bit and makes them feel a little more outgoing. As a way to relax and let go of some of their pressures, ISTJs also prefer using alcohol. Usually, they hate getting absolutely trashed, and tend to keep a good buzz.

ISTJs are individuals who are naturally regulated, but a little alcohol can often make them relax and become more available. This can be a wonderful way for the ISTJ to let someone they love open up and share these emotions a little more freely than they normally can.

ESTJ – Extraverted Sensing Thinking Judging

ESTJs are very enjoyable drunks, and love being the life of the party. Sometimes, they try to take over and can even find themselves talking about people. They enjoy being fun and social, and want to impress everyone in the room. ESTJs are outstanding storytellers, often using their buzz as a way to pull everyone together for an amusing or exciting story. Typically, they will enjoy being around loved ones and will strive to make sure the room’s atmosphere is optimistic and happy.

ISTP – Introverted Sensing Thinking Perceiving

When they are drinking, ISTPs sometimes become much more playful, particularly with their loved ones. They become caring and relaxing, and will love being close to the people they care about. Naturally, ISTPs are quiet and independent persons, but while they are drinking they become much more outgoing.

They may feel more relaxed about making cynical jokes, and when they feel tipsy, they might be a little goofy. ISTPs become more comfortable sharing their emotions and are not as guarded during this period.

ESTP – Extraverted Sensing Thinking Perceiving

ESTPs are often much more outgoing and fun, when they are drinking. They are going to encourage themselves to do stuff that they are usually way too nervous to do. ESTPs are social individuals, but a fear of failure or humiliation may hold them back. The ESTP will lose the fear of failure while drinking, and will take far easier risks. The ESTP will leap headfirst into the stuff they really want to try, instead of avoiding embarrassment. Drinking clearly helps the ESTP, without fear of judgment, to be their adventurous selves.

ISFJ – Introverted Sensing Feeling Judging

Usually, ISFJs tend to drink in small quantities, and hate getting completely intoxicated. In order to calm themselves and let go of their worries, they will enjoy having a small drink. ISFJs will also be relaxed and a bit more outgoing when they are a little tipsy.

They want to have conversations with their loved ones, and can feel more cuddly and affectionate. ISFJs simply hate feeling out of control, and can assume that they are self-indulgent by drinking too much. They think more about listening to their loved ones’ needs, and they don’t want to do something that might hurt them.

ESFJ – Extraverted Sensing Feeling Judging

Naturally, ESFJs are social individuals, but when they are drunk, they become even more outgoing. When they are sober, they sometimes encourage themselves to talk up more than they normally do. Until they leap into conversation, ESFJs tend to let others talk and observe the room in most cases. However, when the ESFJ is intoxicated, they can find themselves interjecting more than usual. They can also become a little more goofy and make a few cynical jokes with a little bit of a bite. ESFJs become less focused on other people’s emotions when they drink, allowing them to relax and have fun.

ISFP – Introverted Sensing Feeling Perceiving

They often feel comfortable opening themselves up to their loved ones, particularly their significant others, when ISFPs are intoxicated. They will often start by being fun and playful, but it will eventually lead to a long and deep conversation. ISFPs enjoy feeling linked with their loved ones, and while drinking, they will always feel responsive and affectionate. They will also find that they want to explore the future, and they may go into depth about their hopes and needs.

ESFP – Extraverted Sensing Feeling Perceiving

Naturally, ESFPs are enjoyable individuals, but when they are intoxicated, they become even more entertaining. They will also become the subject of publicity, and go over the top entirely. However, if the ESFP gets too intoxicated, they can embarrass themselves and become a little bit foolish. However, they normally don’t mind this, as long as everybody around them laughs and has a good time. ESFPs just want to make everyone smile around them, and will do whatever it takes to make the room feel happy and optimistic.

INFP – Introverted iNtuition Feeling Perceiving

INFPs, with a great sense of humor, are actually really playful and funny people. However, this side of their personality may go unnoticed, especially if they feel a bit shyer around their current business. It takes INFPs a lot to open up to individuals and they always fail to feel relaxed enough. They would most likely feel much more at ease while the INFP is drinking. They would always come to the surface with their hilarious personalities, and they might even make a few ludicrous and crude jokes. They would probably be much less wary of sharing their emotions, and maybe even tell a few people how they really feel about them.

ENFP – Extraverted iNtuition Feeling Perceiving

Naturally, ENFPs are playful and sweet individuals, but they can also feel too guarded to show this aspect of themselves. They don’t always feel comfortable voicing their feelings to others, and instead of saying how they feel, they may make jokes. They also become particularly sappy and affectionate when an ENFP is drunk. They will always feel comfortable expressing themselves, and may let a few things slip that they might feel shy about later. Pleasant, thrilling and highly affectionate are attributes of the drunken ENFP.

INFJ – Introverted iNtuition Feeling Judging

INFJs will also become much more comfortable and relaxed when intoxicated. They could get a little louder than their normal low self-volume. INFJs can be very reserved, especially around strangers, but their crazy side sometimes comes out when they’ve had a few drinks. They would like to be able to get a little tipsy, as it will assist the INFJ to relax and become much less concentrated on their acts. If the INFJ feels like they are assessing themselves too harshly, this can be beneficial and can help alleviate the anxiety at the moment.

ENFJ – Extraverted iNtuition Feeling Judging

When they are drunk, ENFJs may also become even more playful and goofy. They will probably be the one who tells everyone that they love them, and compliments the handful will dish out.

They are rarely mean drunks, and during this period they genuinely enjoy being able to be around individuals.

When they drink, ENFJs could maybe experience themselves being physically clingy to the people around them. Usually, they are the happiest individual in the room, trying as hard as they can to get the mood up.

INTJ – Introverted iNtuition Thinking Judging

INTJs also do not partake in discussions that appear pointless to them, and unless anything can be achieved, they will walk away. However, when the INTJ is intoxicated, they will also find themselves lecturing individuals and threatening to drop actual bombs on the people around them.

Without feeling held back, they become more social and able to express themselves. In most instances, however, INTJs would not allow themselves to become excessively intoxicated unless they are fully trusted by individuals. They prefer to have control over themselves and, when it comes to alcohol, will pace themselves.

ENTJ – Extraverted iNtuition Thinking Judging

ENTJs transform into an even more outgoing and fun version of themselves while they are intoxicated. Naturally, they are charismatic personalities, but also become the life of the group.

They enjoy being around friends and loved ones and when they are getting drunk, they will be able to freely express themselves. They are not the most emotional individuals, but they may find themselves becoming more affectionate while the ENTJ is intoxicated.

Usually, ENTJs will strive to avoid being too wasteful, for fear of being far too vulnerable to their feelings. In order to retain some sense of control, they often attempt to keep themselves at a regular buzzing pace.

INTP – Introverted iNtuition Thinking Perceiving

Often, the intoxicated INTP can become more outgoing and very talkative. Their inner thoughts are going to come out to play, and the INTP can also get into long talks with the people around them. They would be chatty and able to share their deep thoughts and even emotions while the INTP is usually reserved and tends to keep to themselves. They might prefer to drink around people they can trust, simply because, during this time, they become much more exposed.

ENTP – Extraverted iNtuition Thinking Perceiving

ENTPs become highly enthusiastic and positive about life when drunk. Even more outgoing, they become, and the life of the party will often be. They love being around people and they’re going to be great at keeping everyone happy. ENTPs are typically the happiest drunks, even although they feel intoxicated, they hate battle. They like to have fun with the people around them and have enjoyable conversations. When they drink, ENTPs can also become a little more’ receptive’ and feel more comfortable expressing themselves.
