Here are the major traits of the 5w6 INTJ personality type:

  • Cross Checking – The Scientific Method
  • Objective
  • Good Problem Solvers
  • Systematic Thinkers
  • Rational

Before we look at these traits in detail, we will introduce both the type 5w6 enneagram and the INTJ personality type.

The 5w6 Enneagram – The Troubleshooter

The troubleshooter is an enneagram type that is mostly made up of the type 5 enneagram but shares some traits with the type 6 one too. This enneagram is quite logical in their approach to how they understand themselves, others and the world. Hence they do not like to go on what they are told – in a sentimental manner – but how it is told and whether or not it appeals to one’s logic. They like to discuss things in  a systematic and structured manner so they can actually analyze whether everything makes sense or not!

As a result of being logical in their dealings, these enneagram types are quite practical and independent. They know how things work and prefer to keep things simple thus they take up practical steps. They are more of the doers rather than the ones who just keep talking about something and never appear to go forward with actually doing something! It is easier to deal with such individuals because they do what they say and they are action oriented – they actually work by showing and not just telling.

Although independent, these enneagram types are way more cooperative than the typical 5’s are! They like to take others’ opinions into view but this does not mean they won’t do as they wish. They respect how other people think or function but they only feel satisfied and comfortable going ahead with what they believe is right for their own self.

These enneagrams have a strong passion for learning and growing in terms of their skills and strengths. They will read, enroll in courses and attend training programs to boost their skills and knowledge. This helps them make better decisions because they have the right resources which include experience, knowledge and first hand exposure to the real world. They do not like to discuss or engage in things they do not know much about.

INTJs – The Dominant Functions

INTJs are made up of four functions namely introversion, intuition, thinking and judging. We will discuss each of these one by one to develop a deeper understanding of this personality type.

Introverts can be defined as ‘measured’ people. They think very carefully before they speak and when they speak it is limited. They are better able to process information by thinking over it in their head instead of participating in a brainstorming session. Also, their behaviours reflect their inner world; when they think they automatically become quiet, more focused and reflective while doing so hence their thinking and behaviour is in sync. Hence, don’t get overwhelmed when they don’t reply as fast as you want them to or go quiet. They just need time to think over what you said or what it is they want!

People who are intuitive are known for making many discoveries in world history and this does not happen by just ordinary thinking; they must go beyond the scope they are given! They give value to their vision, dreams and even imagination and combine that with what they already have in their hands.

When it comes to intuitive people, they are indeed gems; they have dreams and visions they want to achieve and they will not let anything stop them

INTJs give weightage to their thoughts and what seems structured or logical rather than the emotions they feel for others. Sometimes this can be detrimental and they find difficulty in understanding the emotional complaints or requests their loved ones have. People with this personality type focus on values like truth and justice and prefer to see the logic or aim of things. They can be described as task oriented rather than people oriented.

People who have the judging function are very particular about having schedules; they want to know what needs to be done when and prefer not to have too many surprises in their routines because it affects their work and tasks they need to get done. They will appreciate a person who has much of the things organized and already done.

The 5w6 INTJ Type: The Major Traits

In this section we will take a look at the major traits this unique personality possesses!

Cross Checking – The Scientific Method

Yes these personality types love to cross check what it is they do! They prefer the scientific method where they can actually adopt a testing system to filter out their ideas, beliefs and other claims so that they can arrive at the truth.

They will look for ways to check their ideas so that they can be sure of what they believe in is actually true. Hence, they will not go for opinions or believe in things that cannot be tested. They truly are scientists who need some sort of validation method!

Furthermore, these individuals like working with people or organizations who value what they call ‘the validation method’. They do not like to work on assumptions, untested ideas or things or concepts that cannot be tested. Hence, to work with these individuals one needs to be concrete and practical.

Objective

People with this personality type like to be objective in whatever they do. Hence, when they are studying a certain topic, they will set aside their beliefs, opinions and cultural or religious influences and try to understand or study something in a pure and objective manner so as to truly see what it is. Also, they will like to use methods that are great at identifying biases in data or results. So they might use concepts such as inter-rater reliability where two people record the same things and if there is any discrepancy then that indeed raises an alarm!

Good Problem Solvers

With all the knowledge they have and their ability to study things in a systematic and rational manner, these people are the best problem solvers you can get. They thrive in environments or organizations where they are given complex problems and asked to solve them or give their analyses on them.

These individuals are great to have when it comes to solving complex issues that have too many stakes in them. They can analyze the entire situation, weigh the factors involved and get to a conclusion by also weighing the pros and cons of a solution.

Systematic Thinkers

People with the 5w6 INTJ personality are indeed systematic thinkers. They like to follow a structured approach when it comes to understanding different issues, concepts, processes or problems. They want to see how things are related in a situation and how that relationship affects the environment and vice versa. They have a lot of grasp on how they perceive their environment and the stimuli in it and that is why they are so good at analyzing situations.

Because they are systematic thinkers, they are people who can actually identify a problem very soon and also solve it!. This is because they know how to study things in a systematic manner and do not leave anything out that could be of importance!

Rational

Whatever makes sense attracts this personality type! The 5w6 INTJ does not like to accept a piece of information just because it appeals to them, has sentimental value or is provided by a person very dear to the personality type under discussion.

It is important that whatever they accept or read or spend time or effort on is actually appealing to their rational! Only then do they actually consider it something worthy that they should invest their time or effort on. However, sometimes it is difficult to converse with people like these because they are only ready to talk with someone if they make sense; it might be difficult to reach their criteria of logic especially if you are in an intimate or close relationship with them where things do get blurred and may not always make sense!

This article not only introduced the type 5w6 enneagram and INTJ personality type but also the unique combination they make up together which is known as the 5w6 INTJ personality type. It described the major traits of this personality combination.
